Specialist Expertise Across the Stack
We work where physical systems meet software: the firmware on the device, the control logic that governs your system, and the cloud services that store what it measures. A project can begin at any of those layers, and we carry it through the rest.
Control System Development
We design control systems and take them from a first specification to production code. Much of that runs through Model-Based Design in Matlab and Simulink: the controller is modelled, simulated against the plant, then generated as embedded code. You end up with a controller that behaves in the field the way it did in simulation, and a model your own team can keep building on.
IoT & Edge Computing
Machines produce data long before anyone looks at it. We build the edge devices and gateways that read sensors, controllers and field buses, then move that data somewhere it can be used. It runs on embedded Linux or small microcontrollers, close to the hardware. When the uplink is metered or drops out, the edge keeps logging and catches up once the link returns.
Embedded Software
Firmware for industrial and safety-critical products is its own discipline. We write it in C and C++ for microcontrollers from Atmel AVR to STM32 and Cypress PSoC, with the mechatronics and control background to make the device do the physical thing it is built for. Reliability comes first, since these products ship in the thousands and run for years.
Process & Product Design
Before any code there is the question of what the system should do. We take a customer's requirements and turn them into a control and functional design that survives contact with real hardware and real users. Twenty years across wind power, hydrogen fuelling and building climate means most control problems resemble one already solved.
Cloud & Azure IoT
The cloud end is where the data lands, gets stored, and becomes something you can act on. We set up ingestion, time-series storage and dashboards, with Azure IoT Hub for device connectivity when it fits. Capacity follows measured load rather than guesswork, so you are not paying for headroom nobody uses.
AI-Accelerated Engineering
AI coding agents can write the code. We direct the work, review what comes back, and check it against tests and real measurements before it ships. The engineering judgement is the same as before, delivered faster and at a lower cost. This site was built that way.

Meet the Engineer
My name is Jes Vestervang Jensen. I live in the countryside near Ejstrupholm in Central Jutland, Denmark, with my family. I graduated as a control engineer with an M.Sc. from Aalborg University in 2007.
I started out in wind turbine control, moved on to hydrogen fuel cell systems and vehicle fueling, and later spent years on building climate controls, where I am co-inventor on five European patents in heating control. The common thread is product development and control system design.
I did consultancy alongside full-time employment from 2007 onward. In 2023 I went all-in and founded Vestervang Engineering ApS.
For larger projects I draw on a trusted network of freelance engineers and specialists. That lets me scale up quickly while one person stays accountable for the quality.
